Title: Project Manager

Locations: Chicago office

Major Responsibilities/Project:

The Corporate Technology PMO is looking for a highly motivated individual to work as a Sr. Project Manager supporting technology projects. This individual will work to ensure IT projects are on time, on budget, on scope, and meet agreed upon quality standards for projects and initiatives. The project manager will work closely with the internal and external customer teams as well as the management team, business stakeholders, and technology staff to make Corporate Technology projects successful. Formal project management is one aspect of this position, but leadership, flexibility, prioritization, communication and analytic skills are paramount.

  • Primarily responsible for leading project and initiative deliverables related to Corporate IT Project teams; including infrastructure, Information Protection, and Corporate Applications projects, including: project definition, project planning, resource scheduling, risk and communication management, and post-implementation review.
  • Work with internal, business, and technical team resources to define, estimate, prioritize and schedule project and ad hoc development activity.
  • Ensures adherence to standard project management methodologies and procedures, provide leadership to champion and refine existing procedures.
  • Assures the creation, existence, quality, and accuracy of necessary project related documentation.
  • Manage all levels of resources working on multiple projects, as projects vary in complexity and duration. Indirect supervision and motivation of resource performance.
  • Contributes secondary skills to projects and business initiatives – usually in the area of business analysis, development of metrics and key performance indicators, or application expertise.
  • Assist business members with functional requirements gathering and report and testing definition.
  • As necessary, act as liaison between third party vendors and internal business teams.
  • Accountable for continual tracking and analysis of project performance through oral and/or written status reports.
  • Provides leadership and drives Project Management best practices within Corporate Technology

Experience/Education/System Requirements:

  • 5+ years of project management experience, managing cross-functional teams and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experienced in standard SDLC and project management methodologies
  • Experienced with some or all of the following: IT infrastructure and technology project management (networking, SAN, server deployments, Sharepoint implementation, etc.)
  • Prior work experience in a matrix environment
  • Participates in project budgeting and staffing exercises, including providing technical estimates for technical staff.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Project & Visio experience with Microsoft Project Server is desired
  • PMP certification is desired

Necessary Skills, Abilities and other Qualities:

  • Leadership of functional and technical project members across business teams and units.
  • Demonstrated ability in project resource management and constructing defined project plans
  • Comfort level with diverse projects involving varying scopes, business participants, technologies, and project team skill levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal.
  • A team player with demonstrated skills in prioritization, multi-tasking, and success in adapting to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision.
  • Strong presentation and meeting management skills.
  • Must be comfortable executing on project tasks including requirements documentation, business case analysis, vendor management, product definition documentation, RFPs, functional specifications, usability testing, etc. for IT based projects.
  • Must have strong communication and leadership skills, including experience in dealing with internal and external constituents and establishing solid communication systems and processes
