It is VERY important in a job. I think you should find a tactful way of letting him know that it hurt your feelings and made you feel unappreciated. You should tell him that if he had asked you for this extra work that it would have made you feel more like it was a team that your extra work was appreciated and noticed. Appreciation is the thing that matters most in a job for how the employees feel. That is why loyalty is high some places and not others even with the same pay. This is a matter of respect.
